Gov. Joet remains firm No nuke plant in Bataan

Bataan Gov. Enrique S. Garcia III sticks to his stance that nuclear plant has no place in this peninsula province.

The province’s chief executive reiterated this during a pre-Christmas news conference on December 20, 2024 at the Shaira Cafe in Balanga City. Garcia said the provincial leadership is steadfast in its belief that nuclear plant or the operation of mothballed Bataan Nuclear Power Plant is never a good idea.

He told reporters that times have changed and reviving the 45-year old BNPP is not necessarily an answer to power crisis brought about by high cost of fuel besetting the country. The governor added that alternative sources of energy other than nuclear plants are fast emerging now.

Among the issues tackled in the said news conference include the Senate’s green light to long-delayed Metro Bataan Development Authority which aims to keep the province secured economically; youth welfare and employment of affected Central One Bataan.Ph workers.
